Commentary: vitamin A policies need rethinking – International Journal of Epidemiology
A rising challenge in VAD prevention is guiding governments to safely transition from vitamin A capsules (VAC) to dietary strategies, where possible.  Keith West, Amanda Palmer, and Al Sommer coauthored a response to an October 2014 paper (“Vitamin A Policies Need Rethinking”) that appeared in the IJE by John Mason and colleagues and called for a rapid shift away from VAC. The commentary article from the Center for Human Nutition suggests there be a more paced, evidence-based approach to provide assurances that population groups in need don’t fall through the cracks during a transition.
