The Center for Refugee and Disaster Response sponsors the following concentration and certification programs for students at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (please click on the link for more information):

Concentration in Humanitarian Assistance/Health and Human Rights

The MPH concentration in Humanitarian Assistance/Health and Human Rights focuses on protection, assistance, and advocacy for vulnerable populations worldwide.  These include refugees, internally displaced persons, trafficked women and children and other populations marginalized by age, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, class, or religious belief.  The coursework will help students understand why populations become vulnerable and how to address the health needs of thes populations.  Advocacy and protection of rights for populations and individuals will be stressed.  Students will have the opportunity to select a focus in one of two tracks:  Humanitarian Assistance (HA) or Health and Human Rights (HHR).

Certificate in Humanitarian Assistance

This certificate program is intended for masters and doctoral degree students at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health who may be responsible for the health of displaced populations in their future careers.

Certificate in Health Emergencies in Large Populations (H.E.L.P.)

The H.E.L.P. Summer Institute offered by JHSPH is a collaborative program with the International Committee of the Red Cross. The H.E.L.P. course offers humanitarian workers an intensive course in humanitarian assistance, public health principles and disaster epidemiology.
