Jonathan Weiner, DrPH, professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, was appointed as a member to the Medicare Coverage Advisory Committee (MCAC). The Committee advises the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and plays a critical role in charting the course of care that Medicare beneficiaries receive. The MCAC members convene several times a year to decide what services or technologies will be covered by the national Medicare insurance program, based on the best available research regarding effectiveness.
