West Nile Virus

The West Nile virus is very common in Africa and Europe, but it can also be found in some parts of the United States, including the Southern and Western states. The virus usually causes mild illness with fever, headache, rash, and muscle aches. However, it can cause serious illnesses like hepatitis, meningitis, and encephalitis that can can lead to parlysis, coma, and death. Elderly people are at most risk for developing these serious conditions.
