Dengue Fever

Dengue viruses cause more than 50 million cases of dengue fever each year around the world. Dengue virus infection is the leading cause of hospitalization and death in children in most tropical Asian countries. Infection with dengue virus can cause sickness ranging from a mild fever to life threatening internal bleeding. There are four different types of dengue virus. A vaccine is needed that would prevent infection by all four types of dengue.
