Enhancing Schools’ Capacity for Bullying and Harassment Prevention Catherine Bradshaw, Principal Investigator This project aims to reduce bullying in Maryland elementary, middle and high schools by partnering with Baltimore City, Anne Arundel County, and Frederick County public school systems. A web-based survey on bullying and school climate was developed and administered three times to over 25,000 students, 2,500 staff and 800 parents from 119 public schools. A web-based data reporting system was created to summarize the school-level findings and make the results available for school administrators and school personnel to use in the school improvement planning process. This data is also being used to identify schools in greatest need of evidence-based bullying prevention programs and guide training and technical assistance for the participating districts and schools. The project has resulted in three manuscripts currently under review and a forthcoming article in School Psychology Review which examines discrepancies between student and staff perceptions of bullying. |
