SOURCE's Tri-School Day of Service (Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Bloomberg School of Public Health) & Johns Hopkins President's Day of Service on Sat, Oct. 11

Join SOURCE for our annual Fall Tri-School Day of Service, part of the President's Day of Service, on Saturday, Oct. 11

Sites and project details are as follows:

Civic Works at Amazing Grace 8:00am – 12:45pm Help this East Baltimore urban garden get ready for fall and winter while beautifying the landscape outside of Amazing Grace Lutheran Church!

American Heart Association 8:15am – 1:15 pm Support and cheer on hundreds of walkers at the annual American Heart Association’s Greater Baltimore Heart Walk. Volunteers will help along the route at hydration stations and to cheer the walkers along. They will also assist in breaking down after the event.

Project PLASE 8:30am – 12:15pm If you don’t mind getting a little dirty, join Project PLACE as they work on outdoor projects. Volunteers will work on flower beds, paint a fence and help with other general landscaping projects.

Living Classrooms 8:45am – 12:10pm Join in the fun with the Living Classrooms Foundation’s Patterson Part Youth Sports Club. Volunteers will collect health stats (sit-ups, push-ups, timed runs, etc) and facts (height & weight) from area youth.   

Baltimore City Health Department (BCHD) Needle Exchange 9:15am – 12:45pm Help make harm reduction kits with BCHD’s Needle Exchange Program. Volunteers will pack bags with cookers, cottons, alcohol wipes and rubber bands. Kits are given to needle exchange clients to promote safer injection practices.

International Rescue Committee (IRC) 10:00am – 1:15pm Assist with a Family Mentoring workshop. Volunteers will be matched with families to explore basic life skills. All volunteers go through a brief training before participating in the workshop.

Yo! Baltimore 10:00 am – 1:45pm Work with a team of students to help Yo! clean and organize their office space. Yo! provides classes and trainings to support and help at-risk youth realize their potential. Volunteers will help clean and sort clothing and food donations to the center.
