Bringing Science to Social Justice
Thomas LaVeist, PhD is the William C. and Nancy F. Richardson Professor in Health Policy and Management, and Director of the Hopkins Center for Health Disparities Solutions at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He teaches courses in health policy, minority health, cultural competency, and racial disparities in health. He is a frequent lecturer at other universities, and professional conferences, and consults often with federal agencies and healthcare organizations. He has over 60 articles published in leading scientific journals, and has published four books. LaVeist’s research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and numerous national foundations.
