Growing up in
the South Pacific on the largest of the 15 Cook Islands, Selena
Nicholas, MHS 01, had what must have been the ideal childhood.
In elementary school, if the day got so warm that sitting in the
classroom was uncomfortable, the teachers took the children down
to the beach for the day.

Hoaxes and Chain Letters

Almost weekly I get an email from a well-meaning friend or colleague
about a new virus that is sweeping the Internet. Generally, messages
that warn of a new virus dire consequences and urge you to
tell as many of your friends as possible are virus hoaxes.

study or public health intervention being implemented fairly? What
liberties will be infringed on in order to benefit the whole population?

interactions. Epidemiology has been the critical link in learning
this.
