Linda Fried Named to NACA

On Wednesday, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services appointed Linda Fried, MD, MPH, as a member of the National Advisory Council on Aging. The council advises the National Institute on Aging on research and training matters associated with diseases and conditions of aging. Dr. Fried is director of the School�s Center on Aging and Health and director of the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology and the Epidemiology of Aging at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. She is also a professor of Medicine, Epidemiology and Health Policy and Management.

Also appointed to the National Advisory Council on Aging were Elizabeth H. Blackburn, PhD, MSc, professor at the University of California, San Francisco; Melissa M. Brown, MD, APN, MBA, director for the Center for Value-Based Medicine and faculty member of the Cataract and Primary Eye Care Service at Wills Eye Hospital; and Spero M. Manson, PhD, professor and head of the American Indian and Alaska Native Programs at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
