Do you have jaw muscle pain?

Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMJ/TMD) Research.  Researchers at Johns Hopkins are looking for volunteers with TMJ/TMD pain to participate in a research study funded by the National Institutes of Health to investigate sleep, pain sensitivity, and symptoms related to temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD).  You may be eligible if you: Are between 18-65 years of age, have had jaw muscle pain for 6 months or more.  Study Includes: A dental evaluation for TMJ/TMD, completing interviews and questionnaires, 2 overnight sleep studies at Johns Hopkins, completing sensory testing procedures, 6 brief telephone interviews over 3 months.  Earn up to $450.00.  Please contact: Catherine Koch at 410.614.3396.

Do You Have Knee Pain and Trouble Sleeping?

Participants are needed for a study to evaluate a new sleeping medication in patients with arthritis of the knee. Researchers at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine are looking for volunteers to participate in a clinical trial examining the effects of a new sleeping medication used nightly for 3 months on: sleep, pain, and daytime symptoms. To participate in this study, you must be: between the ages of 18 – 64, have osteoarthritis of the knee for 5 years or less, and trouble sleeping for at least 6 months. This study involves 1 overnight sleep study, may include x-rays of the knee, sensory testing. All examinations, parking, and medication are provided at no cost. Compensation up to $150. A research study of sensory responses and pain processing:

This study evaluates people’s responses to sensory stimuli, including pain, and determines pain’s short-term effects on the immune system. The study includes 1 visit, lasting 1-2 hours.  You may be eligible if you: are at least 18 years of age, do not have a serious heart condition, are not pregnant. There is no cost to you for any of the procedures.  The study provides compensation ($75.00) and reimbursement for parking.  Please contact Tarek Kronfli at 410.614.3396

Do you have fibromyalgia?

Researchers at Johns Hopkins University are conducting a research study to look at the effects of a way to increase the physical activity of adults with Fibromyalgia. If you are physically inactive, and have been told by a physician that you have Fibromyalgia, you may qualify to take part. Participation involves completing a set of assessments, taking part in group meetings and a home-based physical activity program for 3 months, and completing a 6- and 12-month follow-up assessment. The study will last 18 months and you will not have to take any medications or change any medications you are now taking for your Fibromyalgia. Yoga and Arthritis Research Study

Yoga is an ancient and enjoyable form of physical activity that improves strength, balance, flexibility, stress management and relaxation.  We want to learn if people with arthritis may benefit from yoga.
* For people with arthritis in knee(s) or inflammatory arthritis (RA)
* Yoga classes are held 2 times a week for 8 weeks at the JH Bayview Fitness Center
* Classes have been specifically designed for people with arthritis and are led by an experienced Yoga teacher.

Bulimia Nervosa Study

The Johns Hopkins Eating Disorders Program is seeking women 18-35 years old with bulimia interested in a NIH sponsored study.  The study includes 10 weeks of outpatient treatment, a health assessment, blood testing and pictures of the brain using a medical scanner.  There will be payment for participation.  For more info please call 410 955-3863, Protocol 03-01-24-11; PI: Angela S Guarda, M.D./RPN.
