Our Research

The Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research & Policy is one of a dozen U.S. “Centers of Excellence” in injury control research funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Core funding is provided by the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control.  The Center’s theme—Closing the Gap between Research and Practice to Reduce the Burden of Injury—is addressed in part through conducting innovative research that is highly relevant to policy and program development, implementation, evaluation and dissemination.

The Center places priority on conducting high quality research that informs the establishment and dissemination of programs and policies to control injuries and their consequences. The Center is also committed to the application of this research through professional practice, and the integration of research and practice with the education of future research scientists and practitioners in the field. Center research includes foundational studies, intervention development and evaluation, as well as translation research.
