1st National Injury and Violence Prevention Research Conference

Faculty at the Center for Injury Research and Policy recently participated in the first National Injury and Violence Prevention Research Conference, held on October 10th and 11th, 2007 at the Center for Injury Research and Policy at Nationwide Columbus Children’s Hospital.

The conference was a first for the Society for Advancement of Violence and Injury Research (SAVIR), a non-profit organization founded in 2005 to promote scholarly activity in injury and violence control and to address issues relevant to the prevention, acute care, and rehabilitation of traumatic injury.

Center faculty members that participated include Shannon Frattaroli, Keshia Pollack, and Andrea Gielen.  Shannon Frattaroli was a keynote speaker and gave a talk about the use of qualitative methods in injury research.  Keshia Pollack presented her work on respondent driven sampling methods for research with youth. Andrea Gielen taught a preconference workshop on grant writing.
