"Exploration and Intervention for Health Equality. . ."

The Hopkins Center for Health Disparities Solutions (HCHDS) is dedicated to the elimination of disparities in health and health care among racial and ethnic groups, socioeconomic groups, and geopolitical categories such as urban, rural, and suburban populations. The HCHDS conducts multidisciplinary basic and translational research with the goals of advancing knowledge on the causes of health and healthcare disparities and developing interventions to eliminate them.  The HCHDS works collaboratively with community-based organizations, historically black colleges, and minority serving institutions to carryout the work of the center.

The HCHDS was established in 2002 by a 5-year grant from the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities of the National Institutes of Health.  In 2007, the HCHDS received a second 5-year grant to continue the efforts to generate and disseminate knowledge to reduce and eliminate racial/ethnic and social class disparities in health status and healthcare through research, training, community partnerships, advocacy, and policy formulation.
