The Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) now has a new Clinical Investigator website for clinical investigators and others involved with clinical trials. For clinical investigators and others, such as as medical students, who are unfamiliar with FDA's role in clinical research, the introduction of the website provides information as to where to begin on the website and identifies the information which should be read first. Also the website has a specific section that provides FDA's guidance and regulations on the Protection of Human Subjects in Clinical Trials. http://www.fda.gov/cder/about/smallbiz/clinical_investigator.htm The U.S. National Institutes of Health, through its National Library of Medicine, has developed ClinicalTrials.gov to provide patients, family members and members of the public current information about clinical research studies. http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct/gui/c/r The American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI), established in 1908, is one of the nation's oldest and most respected medical honor societies. http://www.asci-jci.org/ The Johns Hopkins University Welch Library Clinical Resources JHMI Resources | Web Indices | Evidence-Based Medicine Resources | Online Tools and Resources | Professional Organizations | City, State, and Federal Government Resources | Medical Education and Continuing Medical Education http://www.welch.jhu.edu/internet/ The National Bioethics Advisory Committee (NBAC) has published volume II of its report, "Research Involving Human Biological Materials: Ethical Issues and Policy Guidance." Both volumes I and II are available on the web. Volume I (NBAC's report and recommendations) was transmitted to the President in August 1999. Volume II consists of the following commissioned papers: - Contribution of the Human Tissue Archive to the Advancement of Medical Knowledge and the Public Health David Korn, Stanford University School of Medicine (now AAMC)
- Privacy and the Analysis of Stored Tissues

Other Clinical Research Training Programs Designed primarily for Duke clinical fellows who are training for academic careers, this program offers formal courses in research design, statistical analysis, decision analysis, research ethics and research management. Students who complete a prescribed course of study in the program are awarded a Master of Health Sciences in Clinical Research degree by the School of Medicine. http.www.medschool.duke.edu In keeping with a commitment to clinical research development, Emory University offers the Masters of Science in Clinical Research degree. The Clinical Research Curriculum Award (CRCA) Program and MSCR degree are designed to help prepare participants for careers as clinical research scientists. Investigators undertaking clinical research must couple their knowledge of medicine with analytic sciences. http://www.sph.emory.edu/CRCA/ Introduction to the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research (IPPCR) - formerly the Core Course in Clinical Research Warren Grant Magnuson Clinical Center.
