Bloomberg students, faculty and staff can help to reduce the School’s ecological footprint. Here’s how. (Most of these suggestions apply at school, work and home.) - Turn off all your lights when you leave the room for more than 15 minutes.
- Recycle by using your single-stream recycling bin.
- Print less and print double-sided.
- Close curtains or blinds on hot or cold days and when you leave for the night.
- Instead of boosting the heat, wear a sweater.
- Turn off your computer monitor if you’re not using it for more than 15 minutes.
- Plug electronics (e.g., cell phone chargers) into a power strip, and turn off the strip when not using.
- Carpool, bike, or use the shuttle to get to work or school.
- Drink tap water instead of buying bottled water.
- Re-use your own mug, thermos and silverware instead of disposable materials.
- Replace incandescent light bulbs with CFLs (compact fluorescent lamps) at home.
- Try eating vegetarian meals several times a week.
