<< Secondhand Smoke The Fogarty-supported research effort has involved the planning and groundwork for an intervention program at the province level with targeted programs in specific cities and rural districts. The activities have included a large-scale survey, focus groups and in-depth interviews with community leaders and members, assessment of nicotine levels in public places and homes, and a community intervention study focusing on achieving smoke-free public places and homes at a community level. The intervention is designed to - increase awareness of the harm to health from passive smoking
- decrease exposure to secondhand smoke (SHS) in public places and homes
- design and disseminate a model program, implementation strategies and materials to encourage cessation
This current study will provide a model for comprehensive interventions to decrease non-smokers’ exposure to SHS, particularly in rural areas of China, and will furnish a foundation for our proposed intervention study. Secondhand Smoke Exposure in Homes Secondhand Smoke Exposure in Public Places
