In July 2007, the Conference of the Parties (COP) of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control will meet to consider guidelines on the implementation of their obligations under Article 8 of the Convention to provide protection against secondhand smoke. These guidelines should serve as best practices for countries in the implementation of their smokefree laws. In advance of the COP, the Global Smokefree Partnership is launching a Global Voices Campaign to gain and secure support from countries for strong and effective Article 8 Guidelines.
