Surveillance

JHSPH, in collaboration with the CDC Foundation and the World Health Organization, is providing consultative resources for the following projects:

1. Rapid estimation of tobacco use prevalence, including the development of models for estimation and adjustment where appropriate

2. Development of the Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS)

The estimation exercise is a systematic assessment of available adult prevalence figures with the goal of identifying the best estimates available for countries specifically targeted by the Bloomberg Initiative. Such estimates are needed for planning purposes, for establishing a baseline as the Initiative begins, and for validation of reported prevalence estimates.
