Towards a Smoke-Free China

The work in China is being implemented through a collaborative project with the Chinese Center for Disease Prevention and Control (China CDC) and Peking Union Medical College.

The objectives of this project are:

1. To establish, through the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention a national network of tobacco control practitioners and key stakeholders in most provinces and selected cities

2. To plan and implement smoke-free interventions through this network

3. To monitor and evaluate progress towards a smoke-free China

Project outcomes will include an educated network of tobacco control stakeholders throughout China; increased support among key stakeholders for reducing exposure to secondhand smoke throughout China; and, reduced exposure to secondhand smoke in selected locations.
