Summary

This NIEHS supported study is a step wedge randomized trial to assess the impact of indoor smoke reduction achieved through installation of a new, improved cookstove for ALRI and low birthweight reduction in rural Nepal. Additional funding from the Thrasher Research Fund supports examination of carbon monoxide exposure in the home and carboxyhemoglobin concentration in the blood of pregnant women and its impact on preterm birth and IUGR.
