Project Connect Baltimore

Baltimore, MD, United States

Start Date:
End Date:

Project Type

The overall aim of this project is to increase the proportion of sexually active African American and Latino males aged 15-24, including young men who have sex with men, receiving quality sexual/reproductive health care (SRHC) inclusive of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and sexually transmitted diseases (STD) testing by adapting Project Connect to Baltimore so that is male-friendly and culturally appropriate. The objectives of this project include: 1) To conduct formative work to inform Project Connect Baltimore components; 2) To collect data for and develop the youth guide for traditional print and online applications and pilot test guide for implementation among youth-serving agencies/schools; 3) To widely market and distribute the youth guide; and 4) To evaluate the youth guide training intervention and determine whether increases are seen in sexually active male youth receiving SRHC including HIV testing. If successful, this project will advance the field of male health promotion through its use of innovative approaches and technology that are easily transferable to a variety of settings and implemented at low cost.
