The District of Columbia Department of Health has contracted with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health to conduct a public health scoping study for the Spring Valley Neighborhood in Northwest Washington, D.C. The War Department conducted chemical warfare research, testing, and disposal in Spring Valley during and immediately after World War I. This project will provide a synthesis of existing environmental, exposure, and health data; characterize potential risks to the Spring Valley community; identify key information gaps; and provide recommendations for further study or tracking of contaminants, exposures, and health outcomes.
