Summary

The PCA provides support for sub-studies conducted as part of a larger impact evaluation of the Integrated Community Case Management (ICCM) conducted by the Institute for International Programs at Johns Hopkins University (IIP-JHU). The evaluation uses a cluster randomized designed in two zones of the Oromia region in Ethiopia to assess whether the scale-up of the ICCM of common childhood illnesses (pneumonia, diarrhea, malaria and severe acute malnutrition) can accelerate reduction in mortality among children under the age of five. This PCA supports a study on assessment of the strength of ICCM implementation and quality of care provided by Health Extension Workers in two regions of Ethiopia and an endline household survey for mortality measurement in the two evaluation zones of the Oromia region. The former study will allow evaluators to provide feedback to program implementers to ensure continued high and strong level of implementation. The latter will allow measuring the impact of the program on mortality among children under the age of five.
