His past professional experience includes work in the Department of Population Dynamics at the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health and in the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine at the University of Maryland. In 1987, Dr. Su was appointed to the position of Research Associate in the Department of Epidemiology at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He has been with the STATEPI team as Systems Manager since its inception.
Dr. Su's responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining the STATEPI network system (which consists of a SUN Microsystems server, two Windows 2000 servers, over 30 PCs, and three SPARC stations), as well as database management. He is responsible for configuring and administering all servers; monitoring security and performance issues; and providing backup and recovery processes for the STATEPI network. He also oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of the CAMACS and WDMAC data management systems to fulfill the research needs of the studies and handles technical issues that include design, support, and maintenance of databases and database servers. Dr. Su supervises and/or collaborates with several staff members in the performance of their duties in relation to the network system, database management, and study Web pages.
