Overview

Katherine is a lawyer and member of faculty in the Department of Epidemiology and Center for Public Health and Human Rights at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Katherine completed her legal training in the UK, practicing as a criminal and civil law barrister. She received certification from the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple with training at the Inns of Court School of Law, London. She completed her MSc in International Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and her dissertation work at the Harvard School of Public Health in their program on International Health and Human Rights. 

Katherine's work focuses on improving the protection of human rights and access to healthcare in times of conflict and violence. She has been involved in the development of evidenced-based tools to support the monitoring of interferences and attacks on health care services. She also works on studies focused on improving the health of marginalized populations, with a particular focus on the structural determinants that shape HIV risk, including the role of criminal justice.
