My research goal is to improve cervical cancer prevention services through increased human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine uptake and through optimization of cervical cancer screening to reduce screening overuse and associated harms. I seek to conduct research to determine the impact of the HPV vaccine on cervical cancer screening behaviors and on the predictive values of our current cervical cancer screening algorithms. I serve as Co-Investigator for the Johns Hopkins Center to Reduce Cancer Disparities and for the Cancer Prevention and Treatment Demonstration at Johns Hopkins.
During fall and spring semesters, I teach the Fundamentals of Epidemiology course (AS.280.350) as part of the Johns Hopkins Undergraduate Program in Public Health Studies.
I serve as Program Director of the Johns Hopkins Individualized Health Initiative (Hopkins inHealth). Hopkins inHealth aims to use Hopkins population-level health data to develop and implement novel methods and tools to intelligently use information to individualize wellness, early disease detection, and more effective and affordable treatment. For more information on Hopkins inHealth, please see http://hopkinsinhealth.jhu.edu/.
In addition, I serve on the Individualized Health Cancer Screening Program of the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins. I've held positions at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the New York Academy of Medicine, and the Rockefeller University.
