SciVal Experts Research Profile

PhD , Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health , 2006
ScM , Harvard School of Public Health , 1997

I am interested in understanding and changing food systems, particularly promoting environmental sustainability and addressing inequities. I direct the Food System Environmental Sustainability program at the Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future (CLF). I am leading multiple projects on the issue of wasted food, among other topics at the intersection of food systems, pubilc health and environmental/social sustainability.

I edited the textbook, Introduction to the US Food System: Public Health, Environment, Equity on behalf of the CLF (Wiley-Jossey Bass, 2015). I teach the courses, Baltimore Food Systems: A Case Study in Urban Food Environments and Food System Sustainability Practicum. Both are service-learning courses, and I was a SOURCE Service-Learning faculty fellow in 2012-2013. I also manage the Center's research programs including the CLF-Lerner Fellowships and directed research.
