I have several research interests. I am interested in the genetic epidemiology of psychiatric disorders, including mood disorders and Alzheimer's disease. The goal of my research in this area is to identify the genetic causes of these disorders and determine how genetic and environmental factors interact to shape susceptibility. I am also interested in the pharmacoepidemiology of Alzheimer's disease and mood disorders. I am engaged in both observational and randomized studies to develop and evaluate pharmacological strategies for treatment and/or prevention of these disorders. Finally, I am interested in the pharmacogenetics of psychotropic medications. This interest brings together the previous two lines of research to examine how genetic factors influence safety and efficacy responses to pharmacological treatments in patients with psychiatric disorders.
