Responsible for maintaining the Micronutrient Research Laboratory at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, which supports population-based randomized, controlled trials such as JiVitA and NNIPS through the assessment of biological specimens for nutritional and health status indicators. Provide expertise in nutritional assessment techniques, including techniques utilizing stable isotopes.
Research interests include the assessment of nutritional status in undernourished populations, with emphasis on mineral and vitamin status, and the impact of poor nutrition on bone health and body composition; interpretation of anthropometric and bone mineral content data in population groups in whom adequate reference data are not available (eg. those with dwarfism; women of reproductive age in rural Asia; children with cystic fibrosis).
