Investigating public health strategies for delaying or minimizing the evolution of Plasmodium falciparum resistance to antimalarial drugs. Currently examining the field dynamics and determinants of drug-resistant P. falciparum alleles in human and vector phases in order to identify potential targets for containment approaches. Previous work included the relationship of Plasmodium falciparum transmission control on levels of multigenic drug resistance. Parallel studies explore the development of non-invasive methods for the detection of P. falciparum malaria using human saliva and urine samples.
