William Moss is a pediatrician with subspecialty training in infectious diseases, and has worked in Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa and Zambia among other countries. His broad research interests are the epidemiology and control of childhood infections in resource-poor countries. His primary research interest is in understanding the impact of the HIV epidemic on measles control and eradication. His current project is to understand how immune reconstitution following antiretroviral therapy impacts immune responses to measles vaccine. He has ongoing studies of the care and treatment of HIV-infected children in rural southern Zambia to understand barriers to care in rural sub-Saharan Africa, and on-going studies of the epidemiology and control of malaria in Zambia and Zimbabwe as part of an NIH-funded International Center of Excellence for Malaria Research. Additional research interests include child health in complex emergencies and the impact of maternal schistosomiasis on offspring immune responses in a murine model.
