Quick Facts

Media matters: Elementary school-age children with TVs in their bedrooms scored significantly lower on achievement tests than other children, according to a study led by researcher Dina Borzekowski. A better solution? A computer in the home was associated with higher test scores, reports Borzekowski.

Danger in the grass: Health economist David Bishai found almost 80,000 Americans require hospital treatment each year from injuries caused by lawn mowers. By calling attention to the risk, Bishai hopes more people will respect the fast-spinning blades and take common sense precautions.

During the Knowledge for the World campaign, the Bloomberg School received nearly 200 planned gifts in the form of bequests, charitable gift annuities and other methods. These gifts contributed more than $28 million to the School.
