Master of Health Science in Demography

The MHS in Demography degree program offered by the Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health is a full-time, one-year course of study designed as a year of specialized training in the study of demography. The educational objectives of the MHS in Demography are twofold. The first is to give students the opportunity to acquire a tool kit of specific substantive and methodological skills applicable to a wide range of public health problems in a wide range of work settings. The second is to increase the spectrum of professional opportunities available to graduates by enabling them to market themselves as trained in demography.

MHS in Demography Program Requirements:

  • complete a total of 64 units
  • achieve a GPA of 3.0 or higher in all course work
  • achieve a grade “B” or better in all PFRH courses
  • successfully complete an original essay of publishable quality

MHS in Demography Student Handbook

Application Requirements:
While previous work experience in a public health related field is preferred, it is not required for admission to the MHS in Demography program.  The application requirements for the MHS in Demography are the same as those for all degree programs in the Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health.
