The 12 to 15 doctoral candidates accepted each year by the Department are guaranteed a minimum of a one-half tuition award for two years. Predoctoral funding is available from various sources; each has specific requirements. These sources include the Maternal and Child Health Training Grant. Information about these grants can be found through the Training Programs website. Additional funding opportunities are available from the Bill and Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health and from Departmental general funds. Candidates are informed of their Departmental funding at the time of acceptance. Other sources of support can be found through Student Funding Resources. Candidates who are provided funding will be expected to meet relevant academic requirements in order for funding to be continued. Funding commitments through PFRH are for a maximum of four years. Doctoral students are expected to secure funding for their thesis research through other sources.
