Tenure Track Faculty Department of Mental Health The Department of Mental Health of the Johns Hopkins The Department consists of 20 full-time faculty from diverse disciplines and about 75 research fellows and students. Our mission is to advance understanding of the occurrence, causes, and consequences of alcohol, drug, and mental disorders, in order to improve health in the general population, and to prevent and control these disorders and their associated impairments, disabilities, and handicaps. Department faculty conduct a range of research in a multidisciplinary environment, collaborating with other departments in the Bloomberg School, with the Departments of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Pediatrics in the School of Medicine, and with a number of local and State agencies.
The Department seeks a candidate with interest, experience and ability in genetics, epigenetics, the psychobiology of mental disorders, and/or the relationship of psychiatric to medical disorders. The Department has conducted interviews and maintains relationships with several large population-based cohorts from whom it has received blood and DNA, which are likely to be of interest to the candidate.
Applicants should have a medical degree or a doctoral degree in epidemiology, psychology, sociology, social work or a related discipline. Faculty are expected to teach and to develop externally-funded research. Successful candidates will have a strong publication record or an exceptional potential to publish. Faculty may become affiliated with the Department’s recently created Center for Mental Health Initiatives.
Application review will begin in the winter of 2008, and will continue until the position is filled.
