The Global Health Certificate is a fully online certificate designed for professionals who are practicing or plan to practice in developing countries. The Certificate in Global Health is also offered to all Bloomberg School students currently enrolled in the Master of Public Health (MPH) degree program or a master’s or doctoral degree program in any department of the school other than the Department of International Health. Non-Bloomberg School Students may take classes pass/fail. They can also enroll for academic credit and earn letter grades. Non-Bloomberg School Students - Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
- 1 year post-baccalaureate public health experience
Bloomberg School Doctoral and Masters Degree Students - Apply no later than 2 months before commencing the last course of the certificate. A certificate advisor can be assigned when applying.
- Official Bloomberg transcript and a general information form
- minimum of 18 term credit units
- 3 required courses
- the Introduction to Online Learning course
- GPA of 2.75 or higher for the certificate courses and a minimum grade of C in each of the courses. Those taking the certificate not-for-credit must pass each certificate course.
The Certificate is offered in two formats: degree-based and non-degree. Course work can be completed fully online. Students currently enrolled in degree programs within the Department of International Health are not eligible since their degrees already focus on global health.
Non-Degree students will not receive academic credit applicable to a degree program. Such students are likely to be undertaking the certificate program as part of personal or professional continuing education efforts. They may take classes pass/fail.
Non-Degree students can also enroll for academic credit and earn letter grades in preparation for matriculation into degree programs in the Bloomberg School of Public Health. Students must make this decision prior to registering for a course, as credit will not be given after a non-credit course has been taken.
Students who wish to obtain the certificate as part of a degree program at Johns Hopkins University must be currently enrolled or intend to take the courses for credit and apply these toward a future degree. They must therefore have the academic and professional qualifications necessary for admissions to a Johns Hopkins University program.
