Specialization in Injury Prevention and Control

The science and policy of preventing injuries, reducing disability, and providing emergency services and rehabilitation is studied in this area of specialization. In conjunction with the Center for Injury Research and Policy, the faculty and students focus on injuries of all types, including road traffic injuries, falls, burns, drowning and violence. The epidemiology of these injuries is assessed, and strategies to prevent injuries are formulated and evaluated.

Students must complete the course requirements for the PhD in Health and Public Policy and, in addition, take the following courses.

Required:

  • 305.613 Design and Evaluation of Community Health and Safety Interventions (4)

Students must then select 2 courses from the following offerings:
