The Department’s mission is to provide education and training of the highest quality in epidemiology, to conduct epidemiologic research of the highest caliber to promote health and prevent disease, and to provide service to the School and to local, national and international communities on issues that involve the discipline. We offer a broad selection of educational and research programs that provide training for the following degree programs: Master of Health Science (MHS), Doctor of Science (ScD), Master of Science (ScM), Doctor of Public Health (DrPH), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). The Department also supports the schoolwide Master of Public Health (MPH) and the multidisciplinary program in molecular epidemiology. In addition, we also provide learning and research opportunities for non-degree-seeking students and postdoctoral fellows. Epidemiology students take a core sequence of courses in epidemiologic methods that teach public health and clinical researchers how to design, conduct and analyze epidemiologic studies using longstanding and emerging epidemiologic methods. The three broad areas covered by these courses are: - Epidemiologic history, measurement, and inference
- Epidemiologic study design and threats to validity
- Analysis of epidemiologic data
