Overview

The degree programs in the Department of International Health prepare graduates to respond to the needs of international agencies and national governments for teaching and research in global health. International health emphasizes masters and doctoral training programs for students with international and cross-cultural interests, with a focus on traditionally disadvantaged and/or underrepresented communities worldwide.

Degree Program Descriptions

Degree programs available within the Department of International Health are the Master of Health Sciences (MHS), Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), and Doctor of Public Health (DrPH). All programs are offered on a full-time enrollment basis only. The priority application deadline for all programs is January 2.

Candidates for all degree programs, except the DrPH, should apply for admission directly to one of the department's four program areas. For degree program descriptions and requirements:

Master of Health Science (MHS)

MHS/Peace Corps Master's International Program

MHS/RD Program

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Doctor of Public Health (DrPH)

Program Area Descriptions

The department is organized into four program areas: Global Disease Epidemiology and Control, Health Systems, Human Nutrition, and Social and Behavioral Interventions. All faculty and staff have a primary appointment in one of these areas, but collaborations on research, service, and teaching programs routinely cross the programs.
