The Admissions and Credentials Committee reviews all applications for programs and degrees in the Department and, after consultation with faculty in the applicant’s chosen program of affiliation, admits students. The Committee considers requests for waivers of required courses and verifies that each student has met the requirements for degree. The Committee has seven members and is currently chaired by Dr. Lisa Jacobson. |

The Comprehensive Exam Committee proposes and implements policy regarding the content of the examinations, develops and schedules the Comprehensive exam, notifies eligible students, supervises the exam, directs the grading of the exam, and sets passing grades. There are five members. The committee is currently chaired by Dr. Moyses Szklo. |

| The Curriculum Committee considers proposals for new courses, course changes and course cancellations before they are submitted to the School curriculum committee. The committee plans, guides, and evaluates curriculum for the Department as a whole, including course sequences and requirements, Department examinations, thesis and research requirements and other tasks as required. There are seven members and Dr. Steven Goodman presently chairs the committee. |

| The Student Funding Committee oversees the distribution of various stipend and tuition scholarships. This Committee, which previously functioned as a subgroup of the Admissions and Credentials Committee, now functions as an independent committee. | The Faculty Executive Committee was established in February, 2004 and meets monthly. The mission of the Committee is to represent the faculty and take on the responsibility and work of formulating solutions/policies for any Department issues, so that options can be clearly and succinctly presented to the full faculty for discussion and decisions. Specifically, the committee will be responsible for (a) introducing and discussing issues and/or decisions related to the Department such as resource allocation, recruitment and effort (b) formulating potential solutions/policies, and (c) presenting these solutions/policies to the full faculty and facilitating debate for decisions by the full faculty when necessary. Any faculty member can set an agenda item for this committee to discuss by contacting a member. All minutes from these meetings will be sent to the entire faculty. There are nine members of the committee. Dr. Josef Coresh serves as chair. |

| This committee is responsible for reviewing and recommending policies and procedures as they relate to finance and administration issues in the Department. | The Appointments and Promotions Committee is the Department-wide committee responsible for reviewing recommendations for appointment to and promotion within the faculty ranks. The committee also monitors the academic progress of faculty. The Department’s Professors comprise the committee and meet periodically as recommendations are received. |
