Cost per Credit Unit for Courses Taken for Academic Credit

Tuition for courses taken for academic credit for the 2016-2017 Academic Year is $1,055 per credit. Please see the main Summer Institutes Tuition page for more information about tuition and fees for courses taken for academic credit.

Cost per Credit Unit for Non-Credit Courses

Each Institute manages their own pricing for non-credit courses. For Tropical Medicine, the cost is $527.50 per credit unit. Please note that students who take courses not for credit will not receive a grade for the course and will not receive a JHSPH transcript upon completion of the course.

Additional Information

Students are not required to purchase any textbooks for any of the four courses of this Institute. Instead, a course fee of $30 per course will be charged to each student for materials, which include electronic copies of all reading materials and class lectures. This fee is applied to for-credit and non-credit students alike.

Students registered as "special students limited" may accumulate a maximum of 16 credits total during the Summer term. After 16 credits have been earned, application to and acceptance in "special student regular" or degree status are required.
