Application Deadlines & Fees

NOTE: The online application and course registration in ISIS for the 2015 SUMMER INSTITUTE IN TROPICAL MEDICINE & PUBLIC HEALTH will open on or around February 17, 2015.

Applications for the Summer Institute in Tropical Medicine and Public Health must be received by May 29, 2015. International students must submit applications by March 16, 2015. This is to allow time for processing J-1 visa paperwork. Please click here for more details on visas for foreign students

A $200 non-refundable deposit must be submitted with all international applications, and will be applied towards the student's tuition. Applications may be accepted after June 1 for non-international applicants; however, a $75 late fee will be charged.  Incomplete applications or those received without deposit will not be processed. Tuition must be paid in full on or before the first day of class.

Checks should be made payable to the Johns Hopkins University and must be made in U.S. dollars drawn on a U.S. bank. Any bank charges incurred for processing will be charged to the registrant. Mastercard, Visa, American Express, and Discover payments are accepted.

How To Apply

All interested students must apply using the online non-degree application, which can be found here.

To apply, follow these steps:

  1. Click on "Apply Now"
  2. Select "Summer Institute" as your non-degree opportunity of interest
  3. Select "Institute in Tropical Medicine and Public Health"
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to enter your personal information and the courses you are interested in taking and submit the application.

Once you have submitted the online application, you will receive instructions via email to create an account and login to ISIS (Integrated Student Information System). You must complete this second step of the process in order to actually REGISTER for the courses you wish to take

If you have taken courses at JHSPH for credit in the past, your record may already exist in ISIS, and you should be able to log into the ISIS homepage using your previous login information, and register for courses without re-applying through the online application.

Once logged into your ISIS record, search for the Summer Institute courses you wish to take and register for them. It is easiest to search for the courses using the course numbers listed in our CURRICULUM.

You will also be able to make payments using ISIS, as well as authorize a third party to make a payment for you.

JHU Tuition Remission Program

The JHU Tuition Remission Program is available to JHU employees who meet certain requirements. Students who are eligible to participate in the JHU Tuition Remission plan must provide the Tuition Remission Benefit Application in lieu of payment for tuition. Fees are not covered under the Tuition Remission Plan. If the remission does not cover the entire cost of tuition, a student is required to pay the remaining balance. Original remission forms and any additional payment due from the student must be submitted by the payment due date. It is the student's responsibility to understand and abide by the terms of the Tuition Remission Plan.

After completing the Tuition Remission forms, please print them and send to the business office along with a copy of your registration form.
