Infectious Disease Epidemiology

Curriculum and Faculty

In the Infectious Disease Epidemiology track, masters' and doctoral students are required to complete a minimum number of credit hours in elective courses.

Masters (ScM or MHS) candidates must complete 8 credits and doctoral (PhD) candidates must complete 12 credits. Students should meet with their academic advisors to plan an enriching program that will meet their individual academic goals. Required and elective courses are regularly revised to update content and add new areas.

The Curriculum Includes

  • Didactic course work in epidemiology including specific coursework in infectious disease epidemiology
  • Participation in infectious disease epidemiology journal club, seminar series and weekly research-in-progress meetings
  • Developing and conducting independent research culminating in a master's thesis or doctoral dissertation

Students are required to complete the Epidemiology Department’s basic core curriculum in addition to the required coursework for their track. There are course requirements for each track as well as course requirements for each degree program. Each track curriculum is detailed in the JHU e-catalogue by degree program: MHSScM, and PhD
