Description:

Provides an understanding of the conceptual basis for measures of health; some of the common measures, their properties, and strengths and weaknesses; and a framework for judging the appropriateness of a particular measure for students' own work.

Student Evaluation: short answer quiz; article review paper; and final paper
Learning Objective:

Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to: (1) become familiar with the current methods of assessing health status (2) obtain a conceptual basis for understanding health status measurement (3) be able to use a framework for judging the appropriateness of particular measures for their own or other’s work.
