Description
Uses film and television to examine and question the public health cultural landscape in society. Explores a range of current public health research, policy, and practice topics. Each session involves watching film and television excerpts coupled with a brief overview of the public health issue and class discussion.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Describe the ways in which film and television educate the public about public health topics
  2. Analyze film and television by content, point of view, accuracy, tone, style, cinematography, and use of music and images
  3. Understand the scientific, ethical, and political implications of the portrayal of public health issues in film and television
