Provides an overview of the issues and approaches in the application of environmental health risk assessment, risk management and risk perception/communication concepts to the use of engineered nanomaterials in technology and products.
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
Describe how the fundamental principles of risk assessment, risk management and risk communication interrelate with nanotechnologies in a societal context.
Identify key issues and approaches to assessing and managing the health and environmental impacts of nanotechnologies.
Analyze and articulate the application of risk analysis approaches to nanotechnology, including risk-risk and risk-benefit issues.
