Description
Describes the epidemiology and prevention of diabetes, obesity, and associated complications. Discusses methodological issues associated with evaluating these in epidemiologic studies. Designed to cover the global epidemics of diabetes and obesity, environmental and genetic risk factors, as well as interventions to improve diabetes outcomes and weight management. Includes lectures from several expert faculty members in the School of Public Health and the School of Medicine, to discuss landmark studies.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Describe the epidemiology and prevention of diabetes, obesity, and associated complications
  2. Discuss methodological issues associated with evaluating these in epidemiological studies
  3. Apply methodological principles when implementing research studies or interpreting the scientific literature
