Description
Provides an approach to solving problems in patient safety in health care. Discussions include the role of both individual health care workers, and systems in improving patient safety. Students learn the basics of analyzing a patient safety problem, and become familiar with models for improving safety in hospitals and other health care organizations, as well as methods for implementation and evaluation of interventions.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Identify an important patient safety problem
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of how to analyze a patient safety problem
  3. Describe the role of various systems and factors in creating safety hazard
  4. Plan an intervention to improve patient safety, including design, implementation and evaluation of the intervention.
