Introduces modern statistical theory, including likelihood functions; minimal sufficiency; exponential families; theory estimation, theory of optimal tests, and confidence intervals; robustness; and decision theory.
- Learning Objectives:
- discuss classical theory/methods for drawing statistical inference
- Discuss the statistical reasoning and theoretical justification behind two main streams in inference: hypothesis testing and estimation (point and interval)
- Methods of Assessment:
Student evaluation based on homework and one exam per term.
